Kids Cook-off to Kick-off

Are you between the ages of 6 and 12 and love to cook?  Even if you’ve never cooked, do you want to give it a try?  If so, join us for Kids Only BBQ grilling contest.  We will provide the grill, the charcoal, and the hamburger for a fun afternoon!

 

Please have your parent complete the entry form at www. along with your online payment of $25.00.  You may also download the paper entery form and return with a check for $25.00 payable to The United Way of Ellis County and mail to the United Way of Ellis County, P.O Box 367, Hays, KS  67601. The first 40 registered children will be eligible to cook.  Each child must have an adult supervising them at all times.  The deadline to register is August 18th. Your immediate confirmation of acceptance to compete will be sent via email or the address you provide.  

 

 


 

United Way of Ellis County’s Kids Cook-off Rules and Regulations

A child will compete to make the most mouth-watering hamburger with their choice of toppings and bun.

 

1. An entry form and fee of $25.00 per child must be received by no later than August 18, 2018.   The entry fee will supply the contestant with an apron and 1 lb of ground beef.  The grill and charcoal will be provided.

2. The child will be provided 1lb of ground beef in which to make 2 hamburgers with.  The contestant will need to bring their own seasoning/sauces, toppings, buns and cooking utensils including tongs, cutting board etc. 

3. The child must be between the ages of 6 and 12 to participate.  An adult must be with the contestant at all times or they will be disqualified.

4. Kids Cook-off contestants must cook in the designated area.  Also, each contestant must do the preparation, cooking and presentation. 

5. Handicapped children will be allowed to do as much as they are able with some help from the parent.  Please let us know on the entry form if a handicapped child is participating and what special arrangements need to be made.
